#220 …when he agrees to watch corny TV serials while the sport is on.

“Hey did you see that six, Gautam Gambhir hit yesterday? Wasn’t it a great shot?”
“I couldn’t see the match yesterday, will be watching the highlights tonight.”
“What? How could you miss it man? Any emergency?”
“Yes! Had to watch that saas-bahu serial with my wife,” I said and we both burst into fits of laughter. “You know that evil saas kept reminding me of our grimy  boss.”
Another round of laughter started.
“C’mon yaar. How could you not evade that?”
“I could have. I didn’t. She wanted me to sit with her while she watched it. And I wanted to live those moments – its not everyday that she calls for it.”

#219 …when the feeling doesn’t die but gets stronger with time.

It’s been so long that I haven’t seen him, haven’t even spoken to him. Can’t say – haven’t thought of him; for I failed to close my heart to the things I did not want to feel. It is strange to realize the feeling hasn’t died yet. Still as fresh as the crisp morning air. I always thought away from eyes is away from heart. Nope. Not this time. The winds of time failed to blow away my feelings for him. Infact with each passing day the feeling has grown stronger. Even though I have no hopes of getting him back in my life, I am happy to carry the feelings in the heart. After all -

#218 …when you know something is missing but don’t know what.

22nd Aug - Attending Saanya’s marriage was an event I had been planning for more than 12 years now. After a series of break-ups and patches she finally tied the knot with her childhood love –Arjun. Since my Dhruv wasn’t here, I was paired up with Jay, Arjun’s friend for the Sangeet dances. He is so adorable and understanding. I had a good time with all of them. Now when its time to pack bags, I am not all right. I am happy for Saanya and I am happy to be meeting Dhruv tomorrow but there’s something missing. Have already checked my bags twice to make sure I am not leaving behind anything.
24th Aug – Nothing’s the same ever since Saanya’s wedding. I keep missing something.
25th Aug – Jay called up. He is in Delhi for some work and I have to take him on city tour. I am so excited… …. …. ….
26th Aug – Everything seems in place once again!

#217 …when u give him the ability to destroy ur heart, but trust him not to.

“You are mad Disha. I agree he likes you but that doesn’t mean you’ll give him the power to break your heart. Have you seen your condition? You are so naïve to even let out all your secrets to this guy. One day he’ll dump you and go away leaving you wriggling.” Shia was upset with my being so vulnerable at his hands.

“Don’t worry Shia. I trust him not to.”

#216 …when you try encouraging his attention towards you.

“Why are you so sad?” Alisha asked on seeing me sitting head down in a corner.
“For the past half an hour I have been trying every trick under the sun to gain his attention but without luck.” I blurted out in frustration without a thought to what I was saying.
“But why?” she looked confused.
I realized my mistake. She knew nothing about my upcoming feelings for Ved. And I had no intention of telling her yet. “Oh! Just like that! Some fun,” I winked to her.
Infamous for being the naughtiest in the house, she didn’t catch my lie and smiled.
“Poor soul he is to be,” she said and we both laughed.

#215 …when you bring out the best in each other.

“I am glad you could bring out the best in me.”
“Did I?”
“Yep. The way you kept complementing my writing, I got the courage to get serious with it. With your feedbacks and suggestions, I have finally have my work published.”
“That was your talent entirely.”
“It was. But thanks for bringing it out.”
“Thanks? Did I thank you when you help me become a better person – a better son, a better bro, a better friend and finally a better husband?”

#214 …when you don’t become suspicious on his forgetting an appointment.

I knew by now he had forgotten once again tonight.
This is 3rd time in a month when he had not turned up after committing to meet me.
I smiled.
So like him.
An avalanche of excuses will soon be on my way.
I started thinking of how to intimidate him when he realizes his mistake.
And I know what to buy him next – Calendar with alarm.
