Asking
my chauffer to park in the parking lot and wait for my call, reluctantly I got
down from the car and proceeded to the coffee shop. It was already 4.15. He
would be waiting for me there.
“Why
did I agree to this stupid proposition after all?” I said to myself.
As
I reached there, a guy got up from his place and moved to me.
“Hi. I am Piyush. You must be Deepika.” He
said extending his hands.
I shook his hands and greeted back. “But how
did you recognize me?”
“Facebook.” He said and smiled.
I smiled too. Smart. Plus 1 to him.
We then moved back to the table. Like a
gentleman he pulled back my chair, made me sit comfortably and then took his
seat.
Nobility. Plus 1 again.
“Coffee?” he asked handing me over the
menu.
“Caffee latte,” I said keeping the menu on
one side.
As he called the waiter to order, I saw he
was not too bad to look at. Another .5 for looks.
“So what have you decided?”
“About?” I asked.
“Me.”
“Too early to speak of it.”
“I know you have made your decision. The
rest of our meeting will just be a formality.”
“Is it? Then you must have made yours as
well.”
“I had made it before coming here. I came
here just to help you make yours.”
Plus 1 for friendliness. He was scoring
fast.
“That’s sweet of you. Do you mind then
telling me your decision?”
“You don’t look that dumb not to know by
now.”
Gosh! Obviously that was foolish of me to
ask. If he hadn’t liked me, he wouldn’t have bothered coming here. I suddenly
felt nervous. I moved about in my seat and looked down.
“No need to get conscious. I liked your
carefree attitude more than this shy one.”
“Tell me something about yourself.” I said.
“I assume you have checked my biodata with
your Dad.”
“I swear I didn’t.”
“Don’t swear, I believe you.” He smiled. .5
for his smiles.
“Ok to begin with I……………….
For the next two hours we kept chatting,
mostly about him. By the end of it we had finished 2 sandwiches, one bowl of spaghetti
and 2 coffees. As he paid, I called for the car. He waited for me to sit and
drive away before heading off to his car. Plus 1 for humility.
“How was the guy?” my sis asked on opening
the door of our home a little.
“Atleast let me in.” I said pushing the
door open.
On entering I saw a sea of faces looking at
me with expectations.
“Allright. The meeting was good. He was
good. Infact I think he’s the most wonderful person I've ever met.” I had made
my decision.
“Wow! You are blushing.” My sis said and hugged
me tight. Within a matter of seconds everybody was up, cheering.
