Monsoons!
For some it’s a harbinger of prosperity, for others a nightmare. For lovers,
its simple pure happiness. At the sudden thunder of cloud, I trembled. As I
realized what was to follow, I grinned widely before running to the window. Mom
had just closed it. The pitter patter on the window pane was no less than a
melody but except the ear no other sense organ was satisfied yet. I sneaked to
the terrace.
The first drop on the body spread a sensation in the nerves, but
all others a thrill I longed to enjoy forever. I walked to the middle, spread
my arms, closed my eyes and looked up. Each part of me felt the eternal bliss.
I slowly embraced myself. And then a sneeze. The chain of thoughts was suddenly
broken when my mom heard me sneeze and came running to pull me back under the
shelter. More sneezes followed and so did my mom’s thrashings. But none could
overshadow what I had just experienced.
